Can you do what this Muslima did with her family?

A muslima’s young children at Hajj

Hajj is the last pillar of Islam.  Usually it is done by only adults who are ready. This Muslima was brave along with her husband and 3 children took on Hajj as if it were a trip to Disney World.  Read her adventure here and how Allah gave her and her family glad tidings. Takbir!

And proclaim among men the pilgrimage: they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel, coming from every remote path ( Hajj : 27 ) …. In this case these children came with their parents and one of them on a stroller…. Takbir!

Parents, children are not only protected by Allah SWT., they are resilient!  Especially when their parents are not afraid to show & share hardship with them.

Here is my story, a muslima from Indonesia…It was only 3 months my husband and I arrived in the city of Jeddah, with our 3 children: Andy- 7 years, Reta- 3 years and Keenan- 10 months.  Also, the time of Hajj became close!  So many people began registering for the last pillar of Islam – Hajj.  Watching all those people register and prepare for Hajj we both longed to also join in this joyous occasion.  But how? We just came to Jeddah and hardly know anyone to look after our 3 children.  We contemplated bringing our children but how? Could we handle them? Could they handle this level of Ibadah that requires not only mental strength but physical as well! Ya Allah!  We longed to go to Hajj!

Kun-Faya-Kun.

In deep longing to fulfill this last pillar we took the chance in bringing our 3 children.  Our hearts and minds racing with wonder and thoughts if we could all attain Hajj as a family!  Could we? Only in the name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful who makes the unthinkable attainable with the words Kun-Faya-Kun.

The Day of Hajj has arrived …

Bismillah …. We come to meet your call ….
Labbaik allaahumma labbaik … we come to meet your call …. risky is our endeavor to bring our 3 small children.  We do it anyway.  Kun-Faya-Kun!

We go to Hajj as a family.  We put on a strong and brave face full of happiness so that our children will remember those warm and pleasant memories of Hajj.  Ameen.

Arafat

The sun blazing down on the field of Arafat it’s swirling around and engulfing our bodies and souls reminding us that this heat isn’t even close to what it will be for those who disobey Allah SWT.  However, in the midst of this situation our minds were occupied with our children.  Trying to make sure they are comfortable and feel that although hot and uncomfortable this time in Arafat is a most joyous time!  And we are blessed as a family to be at Hajj together! Oh, Allah help us!

In this blessed dessert, I sit and in my arms is Keenan, I rock the baby back and forth and beg forgiveness of all of my sins and that this Hajj is made easy for my children!  My husband and I took turns entertaining and keeping watch of the children whilst the other prayed.

We completed Arafat. Kun-Faya-Kun.

Muzdhalifah

More intense than Arafat! Millions of people from all over the world.  Busses upon busses that crowd the area with exhaust fumes that can drive a person mad.  My baby and children were overwhelmed by this situation but by our comforting their hearts became calm.  We also invited them to play at the Muzdalifah mabit Insha Allah they will remember this fun part of Mudzalifah.

Grand Mosque-Makkah

Are we at sea? Or are we on land that is a sea of people?  Takbir! Millions of Muslims from around the globe have entered the Grand Mosque enthusiastic to circle the Ka-bah. Ya Allah how can we do this?

Kun-Faya-Kun.

My baby slept soundly in my arms as we enter the Tawaf.  Although my children scream for help when crushed and pressed by millions of people the crowd gave way for us.  Allhamdullilah.  Thank you Allah! We are making Hajj as a family! We are all making  Thawaf, circle the Kaaba, which became the central point around the world in which we are facing when bowed Him. The circle is very crowded, Keeenan in my arms, Reta in the husband’s arms and Andy walked in front of paving the way ….. Allahu Akbar …. circle of life will never stop if YOU do not want to stop it, insistence, encouragement, difficulties also ease should be able to face in running our devotions. Tawaf is completed together with our children who would not stop sweating profusely. Labbaik allaahumma labbaik

Mina

When throwing jumroh, I cannot enter that area, because I bring baby-stroller, only the husband and Andy are finally throwing jumroh. I, Reta and Keenan could only enter , wait outside jumroh area.

Everyone must have had a lasting impression when performing the Hajj. But we are allowed to perform the pilgrimage with our three small children … it is from Allah.

Kun-Faya-Kun.

O my lord , make me and my family continue to perform our prayer ( Ibrahim : 40)

Oh, Muslima if we want to achieve the highest level of Iman it is to conquer our doubts and fears because Allah provides for all.
