Jeddah-Amman only takes approximately 2 hours flight. It is 1 hour time difference between Jeddah and Amman. Our flight was at 7.25 am from Jeddah, and at 8.25 am local time we landed in Amman. The weather at that time was predicted 10°C, it was cold enough for us who usually live in Saudi :). Therefore we prepared jackets in the cabin bag, so when off the plane our kids might wear their jackets. We entered the Queen Alia airport Amman by an airport bus. Officers in Amman airport were friendly and welcome to tourists. We just required eyes photo in the immigration.

Day One

Citadel, Amman
Citadel, Amman

Our first visit that afternoon was Citadel (temple of Hercules). It is ruins of ancient Roman buildings. Many of the pillars are still complete. The building partly is an area of the church, while in front of the church is a mosque. Citadel complex is quite extensive. From this high point we may see the whole of Roman theater. Winter and cold wind made us stronger to walk around the complex.

At 3 pm we left Citadel to Roman theater. Entrance tickets are not too expensive. Due to winter season, its maghrib time was at 5.10 pm. We entered into a stadium with seating circular staircase steps. I did not dare to go up, just went up a few levels then went down again.

Day Two

After dhuhur prayer at 11 am, we visited the Prophet Musa (Moses) AS place and the Dead Sea. Prophet Musa place is near before reach the Dead Sea. We stopped there for a while into a place where the prophet Musa remained with his people for many years. As mentioned in the Qur’an, for 40 years Prophet Musa and his people circling the location and could not get into Palestine until Musa Alaihis Salam died and was buried in Mount Nebo, east of the Dead Sea.

[ Allah ] said, “Then indeed, it is forbidden to them for forty years [in which] they will wander throughout the land. So do not grieve over the defiantly disobedient people.” (QS Al-Maidah: 26)

Many visitors also come from non-Muslims to perform pilgrimage, because it is narrated in the history of bible and its

To go to the Dead Sea needs for about 1 hour.  Visitors at that time were full enough. We got in and swam in the Dead Sea. Subhanallah, we joyed…..amazing… we could float in the water which 100% salinity! It is said that people who have skin illness can soak in the water and coat their bodies with the Dead Sea mud and the illness can be healed inshaa Allah.

the Dead Sea

As mentioned in the Qur’an Surah Al-Hijr (74-77) about Prophet Lot and his people:

(74) And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. (The town of Sodom in Palestine).

 (75) in that are signs for those who discern.

(76) And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road (the place where the Dead Sea is now)

(77) Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.

We could not been too long, at sunset we had to back to Amman. While we passed through the sea, we saw across the sea was shining lights from the State of Israel. So close….. just across the Dead Sea and you can reach Israel.
