Abu Zubneh (Cheese Bun)…from Muslimah Kitchen

I do not have any idea, where did the name come from. However this cheese bun is one of my family’s favorite recipes that my assistance at home got it from Arab’s family. The taste is amazing, I even cannot stop to eat it:). Here it goes!

Ingredient for the dough:

Abu Zubneh
Abu Zubneh
  • 2 cup flour
  • 3 tbsp milk powder
  • 1 tsp yeast
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup of warm water
  • sesame seeds

Filling:

Cream Cheese bar (or zataar if you like)

Syrup:

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 1/2 tbsp sugar

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, knead it with hands until smooth. Then cover the bowl with a cloth, wait about 30 minutes until the dough rise. Once rise, take the dough little by little make a flattened sphere, then fill it with cream cheese. Make it like a small ball. Put the ball shape dough in a heat resistant plate. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of bread dough. Bake it in the oven at 350°C until golden brown.

While you wait for the bread done, prepare the syrup by boiling water with sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Turn off the heat. When the bread is cooked, pour the syrup on the surface of the bread. Serve it while it is hot. Enjoy!
