During Ramadan, everyone should race to do good. In hopes to receive many divine blessings. Also repenting and hoping that all would be forgiven and emerge with a clean slate. From this, many people benefit.

Ramadan activities in Indonesia, which are encountered in every corner of the community; in the mosques, neighborhoods, community youth, parents, schools, and even amongst children. All ages welcome Ramadan with open arms.

Those who strive to be pious and obedient are those who do not stay passive to do good deeds whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Especially during the month of Ramadan the locality of where the masjid is, provides ta’jil (food to break the fast) to anyone especially who is traveling and passing the mosque. Moreover, other activities for adult and children are to read Qur’an together after dawn and before break time, arrange i’tikaf (stay in the mosque), or give charity to orphans.

Mother’s communities are active in creating special activities every Ramadan. They usually make ta’jil for distribution in village mosques around their neighbourhood.

In our community’s organization, they built charitable activities at the boarding school. The boarding school consists of children of orphans who are released from tuition in exchange they do chores such as cooking food, washing clothes and other chores. These tasks train them to be more independent for their future.

In celebration of Ramadan for these orphan children,  we have a festive opening with ceremonies, games, some monies and gifts ending with the break of the fast (Foutur) together to share the happiness with the orphans and the local community.

Children are also not to be outdone in preparing Ramadan, in addition to holding events around tarawih prayer, they also help to serve ta’jil in the mosque, and sahoor on the road and they are conducted in every weekend with their parents, so it is really fun for everyone.

As recited in the following hadits,

من فطر صائما كان له مثل أجره غير أنه لا ينقص من أجر الصائم شيء

(رواه الترمذي وقال حديث حسن صحيح)

Whoever gives food to a fasting person to break, then reward him such as the fasting person without reducing the reward of the fasting person in the slightest.” (Narrated by At-Tirmidhi, he said, “Hasan Sahih Hadith”).

What will be your story this Ramadan? How are you using your time? Go and collect deeds! Now is the time!

And Allah Knows Best.
