Avocado-Orange Smoothies

We often find avocado juice/smoothies as one of the fresh beverages at many restaurants. Avocado can be a good source to increase good fat that is needed in our body since there are so many benefits of avocado for our health i.e. lowering cholesterol levels, reducing the risk of diabetes, cutting body weight, and avoiding cancer.

A research issued in the Archives of Medical Research discovered that an “avocado enriched diet can improve lipid profiles in healthy and especially in mild hypercholesterolemic patients, even if hypertriglyceridemia (combined hyperlipidemia) is present.”

Avocados may lower the risk of diabetes, stroke, and coronary artery disease as well. A review announced in the Nutrition Journal evaluated the link between avocado consumption and metabolic syndrome. Avocados may encourage a healthy body weight and BMI (Body Mass Index). The same study also discovered that people who consumed avocados were more liable to have a lower body weight, BMI, and waist outskirt. Besides, avocados may assist in preventing cancer as avocados are rich in phytochemicals which have been testified to help avoid the progress of several cancers.

You can consume avocado slices in your salads or make smoothies with it. The following is a tasty smoothie recipe that you may try at home.


  • 3 small sized ripe avocados
  • 3 oranges (squeeze to get the juices)
  • ¼ lemon juice (squeezed)
  • 2 tbsp low fat yogurt
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • Ice cubes

Blend all the ingredients above.
