Cheese Cookies (Indonesian Kastengels)

This crunchy cheese cookies are very popular in our family. You can make these cookies with your beloved children and enjoy being together during the summer break or weekend.

Items needed are:

White flour 400 gr

½ tsp salt

Slightly dried cheese 200 gr (Edam Cheese), grated

Fresh young cheese 150gr (cheddar Cheese), grated

Butter

Margarine

4 pieces of egg yolks and 1 egg yolk to spread on top of cookie as a glaze.

Combine all ingredients by hand kneading it. Add the egg yolks one at a time. Once the dough is smooth, roll out the dough as thick as a finger, cut into pieces about 4 cm. Place the cheese cookie on the tray that has been buttered. Before you place it in the oven, glaze the top of each cookie with egg yolk.

Heat the oven at 400F temperature, cook cheese cookies approximately 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Cheese cookie is ready to be served. Enjoy!
