There has been a lot of discussions on the benefits and harm of childhood vaccinations. Controversy was stirred especially after claims of links between Measles,Mumps and Rubella vaccine (MMR) and autism. This is a flawed study, and the Pediatrician has been barred from ever practicing.
In recent weeks there has been surge in cases of measles in Wales and globally too more incidents have been recorded.
Measles is a highly contagious disease. It can be a fatal disease, most especially to those with lowered immunity, such as children with leukemia and in countries with substandard living conditions and poor nutrition.
As a parent we will always want the best for our children, our Amanah from Allah. Be enlightened by all means, research and read up from internet but always consult your medical practitioner and make an informed choice. Please believe me, its not a pleasing sight to see a child suffering through a potentially fatal illness which is easily preventable. As a medical student and practioner I always prayed the child brought in with fever and red spots was not suffering from fatal meningococcal disease.
