Du’a When You Are Going to A Market or Shop

Most women like to shop, although there are some women who do not like to go shopping and are not at all tempted when there are big discounts at the mall. If you are included among these women who are not easily tempted, you are blessed!

Nevertheless, almost all women, like it or not, have to buy groceries, clothes, shoes, household items, and much more, right? Unfortunately, a market or a shop can be a place where people can easily be lying. Sellers can lie that their merchandise is good, original, they can give less weight than should be provided, or they can promise things that are not necessarily fulfilled. Buyers can lie also by saying that other sellers will provide a cheaper price so that they can negotiate a price.

As a Muslim, the Prophet (SAW) taught us to always pray when entering into crowded places, markets, or malls.

The messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever enters the market and says:

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ ، يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُوتُ ، بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Laa ilaaha ill-allaahu waḥdahu laa shareeka lah, lah-ul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, yuḥyee wa yumeetu wa huwa ḥayun laa yamootu, bi yadi-hil-khayru, wa huwa ‛alaa kulli shay’in qadeer –

“None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is living and does not die. In His hand is all good and He is Omnipotent over all things.”

Allah will wipe a million bad deeds from his record and grant him a million good deeds, and will elevate him a million degrees (in virtue)- ([and will build him a house in paradise] in another narration). (At-Tirmidhi No. 3428 and 3429; Ibn Majah No. 2235 and others).

May Allah (SWT) always gives us protection from bad deeds. Aamiin.
