Eid in Apex NC

Eid Mubarak!
This year Eid falls on a Tuesday which for many of the Muslims living in a non- Muslim country is the middle of the week. So this year we decided to send our monies to Chad via the local Masjid here in Raleigh NC. (FYI Raleigh is just a 15 min drive from Apex NC).

Allhamdulillah, although lack of fan fare of not slaughtering a lamb by our own hands (our own hands I mean my husbands hands) it was a ‘no work’ day.

We arrived at the Masjid early enough to secure nice parking. This year they had 2 prayer shifts on at 8am and one at 10am. We attended the first prayer. Masha Allah everyone started milling into the masjid, ladies some in fancy attire and some in simple attire. The children all happy and dressed up. The Brothers, ya…wearing non-western dress was about as fancy it would get.

So we all sat with our Sajadahs (we prayed in the multi-purpose room that was layered with thick plastic.) So many sisters brought their prayer mats. But as you can see in the picture above… What a mess! And this year I am saddened with the fact that sisters did not keep the shaf straight and neet. A pair of sisters next to me insisted to put their feet on the sajadah although it was placed horizontally and put the whole shaf out of order. Even though I requested them to correct their stand. Astagfirullah. I ask Allah to correct this!

Needless to say, the lecture was amazing. Masha Allah. A reminder to give glad tidings to one another, to visit and to greet one another before leaving the masjid. Lol… So this happened:

But, I got to see some friends I hadn’t seen in a long while… Here is my friend Amina:

It was great to get much needed hugs!

I then went with my family to have a light breakfast. Unfortunately, I had scheduled a dentist appointment for them several months earlier. So we kept the appointment.

After that we decided to take a stroll to the mall and Subhannallah we met some other friends there.
Lol… So we ended up taking a walk together enjoying Eid day in such a simple but quite enjoyable fashion.

Eid Mubarak!
