Is It True That We Can Study In Germany For FREE?

The answer is, yes, it’s TRUE!

As mentioned in my previous article, Study in Germany, students do not need to pay tuition, but they only pay an administrative fee of 50-250 Euros per semester (six months). The administrative fee is used to produce a student card, to pay for library facilities, for discounts on meals in the cafeteria and for transportation costs within the German state quota for one semester.

All Colleges/Universities in Germany have the same quality of services and meet the standards of a world class education. Germany is a developed country and therefore the Government finances operational costs such as the salaries of its professorsteachers, and research facilities. What distinguishes German education among universities is the location of each university, whether in big or small cities.

In Germany there are 16 states and all of them are FREE. Here are lists of the 16 of German states :

There are 300 top universities in Germany and are considered as among the best choices in the world. The length of study for a Bachelor Degree in Germany is relatively the same as it is in other countries, 6-8 semesters or 3-4 years. As for Medical Studies, the length of study can reach 12 semesters or 6 years.

The number of study programs in Germany is approximately 2000, including Engineering, Economics, Medicine, Social Sciences, German Studies, Computers and more. Here are common, favorite programs:

  • Engineering: electrical, machinery, architecture, civil, industrial, aviation.
  • Economics: accounting, economics, finance.
  • Management: marketing, human resources, logistics, finance, management.
  • Law: civil, criminal, international law.
  • Mathematics and Science: biotechnology, chemistry, physics, mathematics.
  • Medical Programs: general, dental, veterinary specialist.
  • Social Studies: education, social, international relations, political science.
  • Arts and Culture: design, music, culture, language.

For those who want to complete a Bachelors Degree in Germany, they have to master the German language, or they must hold a certificate of German language at level A2,  as all instruction is conducted in the German language. For a Masters degree, candidates do not have to master the German language because in Germany there is an International Masters Program with English as their instruction language. However students are expected to understand the German language for daily intercommunication.

There is no age limit for those who want to continue studying in GermanyThe requirements to study are:
1. Bachelors Program

  • Graduated from high school or equivalent
  • GPA score C or higher
  • For International student, it is recommended to that he/she learn the German language before leaving for Germany (at least 6 months intensive course)

2. Masters Program

  •  Bachelors Graduate
  •  Transcript/Bachelor report
  •  High School certificate and GPA report
  •  TOEFL (iBT) min. 80
  •  IELTS min. 6.5
  •  Letter of Recommendation from the previous University
  •  Letter of Recommendation from the workplace (if working)
