O’ God, please Protect our Children….

(But) he said, “I will take refuge on a mountain to protect me from the water.” (Noah) said, “There is no protector today from the decree of Allah, except for whom He gives mercy.” And the waves came between them, and he was among the drowned.

And it was said, “O earth, swallow your water, and O sky withhold (your rain).” And the water subsided, and the matter was accomplished, and it [i.e., the ship] came to rest on the [mountain of] Judiyy. And it was said, “Away with the wrongdoing people.”   (Hud; 42-44)

But in fact Kan’an never want to hear his father, Kan’an was angry to him. Noah wanted his son to come inside to the big ship, he asked to Allah to save his son, but God was furious and did not save Kan’an.

In recent days, there are a lot of stories or examples of seditious son/daughter to his/her mother. Stories of the faithless child to elder people may be found, either from book or legend from generation to generation.

How do we (as parents) deal with it? Are our children going to be a Zoroastrian or a Christian?

Since our children are still in the womb, we have to introduce Islam. Then once they are born, we should select which education we would teach. At the school age, have we accompanied them?  Introduce new things, make them as our friends enter to the child’s world, school world, and even to the colorful world when they start being teenagers.

It is not easy for the children when they grow as youths. They have to face a lot of things. We will cope with many challenges like to avoid bad influences from the environments around the children – our children. Let the child on his/her own without the guidance of parents and good iman are very unlikely. The children need guidance and good communications from their parents, especially in terms of Islamic education. Hopefully with an intense guidance, trust, and knowledge are enough to make our children survive in their meaningful life by providing a variety of reading or positive activities for children. Thus it will reduce the negative side, creating a positive side in their future life.

Communications should be created to make children comfortable to tell anything about what they’ve done in their school or neighborhood. Make us as a person who knows their problem first, not anyone else. Not his/her friend, internet, or others who teach new things to our children.

O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. And whoever does that –then those are the losers (QS: 63:9).

Do not let the children – our children as children like in Kan’an or other story of faithful son/daughter.

Allaahummaj’al auladana qulluhum solihan wa ta’atan, O God, and teach my children the pious and devout worship.
