Bismillahirrahmanirrahiim

In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

We still have 9 more days in Syawwal!

Assalamu’alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh

As Muslims, we  have just finished the month of Ramadan, a blessed month; a month in which a night is better than a thousand months; month in which Allah has made it compulsory upon you to fast by day, and perform voluntary prayers by night. It is the month of patience, and the reward of patience is Heaven.

But wait! Allah has given Muslim women and Muslim men equal chance to increase our Iman and Taqwa!

How?  Fast 6 days in Syawwal!

We still (as of today 9/18/2011) we still have 9 more days!  For those who want to continue earning the reward and happiness of fasting, they can fast for another 6 days of shawwal, so why not get the bonus?  Let’s all – catch the last tail of the month of Syawwal and reap the rewards Allah has presented us!

Abu Ayyoob Al Anshari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days of Shawwaal, it will be as if  he fasted for a lifetime.” (Narrated by Muslim, Abu Dawood, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nisaa’i and Ibn Maajah).

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) explained this when he said:

“Whoever fasts for six days after (Eid) al-Fitr has completed the year: (whoever does a good deed (hasanah) will have ten hasanah like it).”

According to another report:

“Allah has made for each hasanah ten like it, so a month is like fasting ten months, and fasting six days completes the year.” (al-Nisaa’i and Ibn Maajah. See also Saheeh al-Targheeb wa’l-Tarheeb, 1/421). It was also narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah with the wording: “Fasting for the month of Ramadan brings the reward of ten like it, and fasting for six days brings the reward of two months, and that is the fasting of the whole year.”

So, to earn the reward of fasting for a full year, let’s fast for the next 6 days of shawwal and earn the reward of the whole year.

Wa’alaykumussalam warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh…
