Oh Muslimah, Regrets Always Come After

aMuslima Time flies
Each time we procrastinate we loose a sunset. Don’t wait.

In a couple of days it would have been the birthday of my late father (larhamo).  He would have been a mere 72  years old.  It seems like yesterday I heard his booming voice startling me with a slight fear in my heart but really just talking loud with excitement! I also remember the many trips we took around the world. In particular, I remember taking a walk a the age of 12 along the Boston river in which he said, time flies and one day you will remember this walk. Subhannallah.  I remember. I also remember his last cry for me to come home to see him in his last days. I didn’t go. I was busy. Busy making sure people that I worked for were cared for.  Then it was too late. He left suddenly and yet I had just spoken to him the morning of his death. It was too late. I only saw him via Skype after he died.  My rush to his side was futile and just plain lack of trying or seizing the opportunity presented to me.

You see sisters, we always say insha Allah but do not take true action in which we have invoked Allah’s name.  We procrastinate in completing tasks and things that are seemingly important, but in perspective they really aren’t.  We forget what is important and who is the one really providing for us.  Is it our hard work, or persistence, our smarts, our luck, our capabilities OR is it just that Allah presented us with time, opportunity and we chose right?

Life is full of choices and opportunities.  It is only the heart that Allah guides in that we can see clearly. Let us not regret our results because of poor choices.  Let’s profit our time every single day, moment, minute, second of our lives and ensure that we are benefiting from the opportunities that Allah has presented us with and insha Allah we will all be successful in this world and the hereafter.

Treat this Ramadan as if it would be your last.  Make every second of this holy month count to your Deen.  Strive and rush to do good when and where ever it is presented to you. Don’t stall, hesitate, contemplate.  There is no time left. Don’t be like me. Regretting is more painful than doing the deed itself.

We wish you a blessed Ramadan.
