Other Benefits of Olive Oil

-A recent study by doctors at the University of Oxford has shown that olive oil has a protective effect against intestinal cancer. The doctors discovered that olive oil enters into a reaction with stomach acid in order to prevent intestinal cancer from beginning. At the same time, the University of Oxford researchers also established that olive oil reduces the level of bile and raises the level of DAO (the enzyme diamine oxidase), thus protecting against abnormal cell growth and cancer.

-Olives are rich in vitamin E. The Vitamin E contained in olives is the body’s primary fat-soluble antioxidant. Anti-oxidants help to strengthen the body’s immune system; reducing the severity of asthma, cancer, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis, premature ageing, as well as delaying the effects of ageing. Olives contain compounds called polyphenols that appear to have significant anti-inflammatory properties. Key benefits of olives are: use as a balm, it fortifies the hair and keeps it shiny, prevents dandruff, use, it fortifies and moisturizes the skin, combats dry skin and softens skin. It also combats against acne.

Rasulullah, Shalallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, said,”Eat olive oil and anoint yourselves with it, for it comes from a blessed tree.” Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah.

Saied al-Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates Rasulullah, Shalallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, said , “Eat the olive oil and massage it over your bodies since it is a blessed tree.” [at-Tirmidhi, ibn Maja]

Rasulullah, Shalallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, said: “Eat the oil and use it on your hair and skin, for it comes from a blessed tree.” (Narrarted by al-Tirmidhi, 1775).

Little Tips:

-The massage of olive oil over the body tones up the muscles and organs and it relieves muscular pains. Some physicians also advocate the massage of olive oil for epilepsy. It relieves the Sciatic and arthritis.

-The ointment prepared from olive oil has very good healing agents. It heals the sinus’ and fistula very quickly when taken as a mixture of 25ml of olive oil and 250ml of barley water taken internally.

-Taking 1 spoonful of olive oil in the morning is highly effective against chronic constipation. It is a good diuretic, hence is used in Ascites. It also removes kidney stones.

-Massage a small amount of extra virgin olive oil into the skin until all the oil has soaked in. After half-an-hour, sebum slowly pulls out of the pores on the nose and cheeks. After just one hour, the skin glows very nicely, without being oily. It seems that normal extra virgin olive oil works very nicely.

-Make an oily skin face mask by mixing oatmeal – one cup, olive oil – ½ tablespoon, sea salt – ½ tablespoon and sour milk – ½ cup. Apply it on the skin and leave it on for about 15 to 20 minutes. It is a good recipe for cleaning the pores.

So there are many benefits of olive oil and all that has been written above are just some of the benefits of olive oil. It’s good if  olive oil is always available at our home. It is considered the most important component of the traditional Mediterranean diet. Don’t forget to put 1 tablespoon of olive oil in your salad.
