My kids love macaroni and cheese and I try to make it with penne pasta which is available at our home.
Mmmm …. it’s really tasty! Eat it while it is still warm, when the bechamel sauce is melted, and the cheese topping is crisp ….
Ingredients:
- 250 g penne pasta or macaroni
- 2 tablespoons margarine
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 500 ml milk
- 1/3 tsp salt
- 1/3 tsp pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 150 g cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 1/2 tbsp flour bread
How to make:
- Boil pasta according to the instructions until al dente (tender)
- Drain the pasta
- Meanwhile, melt the margarine over the pan
- Stir in the flour until cooked
- Pour in the milk little by little, stirring constantly so the flour does not clump
- Add salt, pepper and nutmeg, cook until quite thick
- Remove from the heat, then add the egg yolks, mix well
- Mix 3/4 of sauce with 1/2 of grated cheese, stir well
- Add the pasta, stir
- Pour the ingredients into a pyrex pan that has been smeared by margarine
- Pour 1/4 of the sauce on top, then sprinkle it with the rest of the grated cheese and bread crumbs
- Bake within the oven with the temperature of 375-400 F until brown
