Prayer # 6: Hands Crossed On The Chest

After saying takbeer and raising both hands, place your right hand over your left hand.

Wail bin Hujr, Radiyallahu Anhu, reported that he offered the prayer with the Prophet, Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam, and he put his right hand on his left hand (and the both hands were placed) on his chest. (Ibn Khuzaimah: 479).

Halb, Radiyallahu Anhu, said that he saw Allah’s Messenger, Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam, had placed his hands on his chest (while offering his prayer) (Ahmad : 22313, 226/5).

Sahl bin Sad, Radiyallahu Anhu, reported that the people had been commanded to place their right hand on the left fore-arm in prayer (Bukhari: 740).

Narrated Wail bin Hujr, Radiyallahu Anhu, Allah’s Messenger, Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam, placed his right hand over his left hand, wrist-joint and (left) fore-arm (Nasa’i: 889).

There is no difference between the prayer of men and women, as mentioned in the following hadith,

Allah’s Messenger, Sallallahu ‘Alaihi wasallam, said; Offer your prayer as you see me praying (Bukhari:631)

Sholat 101: The journey to Allah, recited Al-Fatihah in every raka’at of prayer
