Ramadan is the best time to break old habits!

Have an organized Ramadan!

Ramadan Kareem
We are already blessed to be here, to feel this rush and happiness while waiting for the glorious and beautiful days and nights of the holy Month of Ramadan.  It’s a chance that not everybody gets to have this year, a chance to change and be a better person, a better Muslim.
Now that’s been said: How can we break bad habits and create a new lifestyle that would grant us the maximum Ajr (good deeds) in the holy month of Ramadan?  It’s not like our lives are empty pages waiting to be filled with tasks and goals! aMuslima knows how busy a Muslim woman is.  Now dear housewives, newly weds, mothers, working moms, single sisters and all you amazing female members of all societies: grab a pen and a notebook and let’s start planning for a better life NOW! 🙂
Step number ONE: SET PRIORITIES!
I’ll need you now to draw three (3) squares: a red one, a yellow one and a green one.  Now simply ask yourself, what do you usually do daily? and “How important is it?” If it was really important put it in the red box.  If not so important but must be done – put it in the yellow box.  The least important things need to go to the green box.  After you have completed this exercise you will see your priorities labeled by color.   Here is an example of how this might look like:

Step number TWO: PLAN AHEAD!

Now that your know your priorities you must plan your day ahead of time.  My Dad has this thing he says all the time, “I would give up but it’s not in my agenda!”.  EVERY MINUTE COUNTS, every second matters, There are no surprises and even if there were they would fit perfectly in your plan, trust me on this! After a while of planning you’ll be very skilled and organized that you will be able to plan the surprises you didn’t know about.
Step number THREE: KEEP TRACK OF TIME!

Wear a watch.  Hang a BIG CLOCK on your wall. Get a tick tock clock if you want!  But no matter what you do,  make sure you know what time it is.  don’t go too far and focus on time itself, keep your concentration on your tasks and priorities.  You will be late, A LOT! If kids are involved know that the whole plan will go upside down.  But don’t panic.  Take a deep breath and take a minute to practice Istighfar, then check on the time and make sure to finish your priorities first.  Always keep in mind that whatever you’re doing is just great — and just keep doing it and insha Allah it will get better over time.

Step number FOUR: STAY COOL!

Things might get out of hand, anything could go wrong.  The goal of the whole thing is to help you get the best of Ramadan and not to drive you mad and crush you under pressure.  STAY COOL! Never fill every hour in your day with tasks.  Put two or three priorities a day maximum!  Take breaks every now and then.  Focus on habits you want to blend into your life starting this Ramadan.  Open your mind and heart for change.  Don’t turn into a stressful person, be organized and happy.  Be a true Muslima.

Wishing and praying that you all have a blessed and self transforming Ramadan – Insha Allah.
