Assallamu Alaikum –
Although spring is in full bloom at this time of the year… some of you may have to stay inside due to the pollen or maybe just a rainy day. I want to share with you some ideas that you may want to do as indoor activities with your family.
As I try …really … and yes I get alot of push back … is to try to incorporate Islamic teachings in daily life. And playing Xbox doesn’t really count. [Anyone know of any Islamic Xbox games?] So in lew of prying my children off of the glass box … aka … TV…they turn their attention to their massive Lego collections. So, I created a little competition for my eldest to build a masjid instead of a stadium (Barnabeau) … and here is what I got:
I thought this was amazing… I made the effects because I tried to weed out the messiness surrounding the Masjid Moaad.
Some other things that I like to do with the family indoors are:
- Listen to stories of the prophets in “English”.
- Make pizza – together!
- Watch a really good documentary
- Hang out and play scrabble
- Play Jengga
- Create New Bionicles and wreck the ones the company painstakingly designed
- Read together
- Draw and create comics!
- Eat
- Go to the Masjid together
- Walk on the lake
- Drive to the local farms
- Go to the beach
- Have a picnic
- Bowling – especially when its rainy or cold outside!
- Taste new foods
- Go to the museums
- Eat ice cream
- Go to the soccer field
- Go to the baseball field
