As I have revealed in my previous articles, universities in Germany are relatively good in terms of attaining a quality education for all majors. I underline this as I have received several emails asking “what is the best university in Germany?”

In my opinion the question about which university is the best in Germany is NOT relevant. Yes, there are differences between the departments among universities, but it’s not a relevant factor to be considered seriously because the extent of their differences are relatively small. The most important thing about studying in Germany is getting ACCEPTED at any university and being ABLE TO PASS and complete all of your courses.

As an important note, do not underestimate the possibility of graduating from any college in Germany. Education in Germany is very hard and cooly rationalist. To pass the entrance exam you must answer 65% of the exam questions! This means that your score in the exam must be at least 65% to be passed by your Professor. If you do not pass for the third time on the same course then you will be mercilessly dropped out!

It is also important to choose majors that match to your interests as well as your abilities. Pursue knowledge that fits the needs of your future career plans or that can be applied when you want to have a career in your own country. You should also determine whether you want to be practitioners or academics. This is especially important for engineering majors and the most ideal option for you, whether you want to be a practitioner or academic, is to take the TU (Technische Universität). The TU is strong for both practitioners and academics.

Studying in Germany for GOVERNMENT universities are relatively free, especially for German speaking universities and almost everything is free from baccalaureate to doctoral degrees.

The next question that came to my email is about fellowships to study in Germany. There are no scholarships for bachelor and master degrees because college itself is already free, but there are for doctoral (PhD) programs and there is an abundance of opportunity for working as researchers. Total scholarships for PhD’s in Germany usually cost about 1000 Euros (without family) and up to 1,300++ Euros (with family). If you work full time with a professor then you can earn between 1,800 to 2,400 Euros per month.
