As the mother of a Muslim American teenager I am especially inspired by the good works and creativity of our youth as I see so many of them going out into the world and representing the best of Islam. It is apparent that Western Civilization and the religion of Islam does not have to be at odds with each other when looking at the trends and behaviors of Muslim American youth and one such young person, Fida Islaih, capably represents her generation in a collection of poetry entitled, A to Z Poetry.

Fida Islaih, a multi-cultural Muslim college student and poet, has published her first collection of poetry with 100 poems about being Muslim, handling emotions and the beauty of nature. Fida hopes that the poems may help others improve themselves and their outlook on life which is a testament to her character and to the potential positive affect that her writing can have upon the world around her.

Fellow Muslimah Writers Alliance member, Saba N. Taylor, writes about A to Z Poetry, “Fida’s poems are sincere, candid, genuine and down to earth because she writes from her heart. Because her poems reflect life, love and living, readers will relate to her earnest expressions and impressions as she writes about life, school, relationships, emotions and faith.”

Fida wrote her first poem around the time when she received her first poetry book when she was four or five years old but began to officially write poetry in the 7th grade.  Ms. Islaih is a member of the Muslimah Writers Alliance, an internationally-based collaboration of Muslim women writers and advocates working together to counter negative and inaccurate perceptions regarding members of the Muslim community and the Islamic faith, and has had her work published in various Muslim girl websites and magazines. Fida is now part of the editorial staff for New Dawn, a magazine for MYNA, Muslim Youth of North America and has written a few novels that are currently waiting to be revised and edited before being published.

Her book is available on goodreads.com and smashwords.com.
