There are many types of vinegar available in the market, not just one kind of clear vinegar or one without color. Of the types of vinegars there is Balsamic vinegar which is dark, sweet, and sugary. Balsamic vinegar is usually used on salads, in sauces, or rained over fresh fruit. There is also cider vinegar which is made from apples and is good for marinade. White vinegar is another and is a neutral vinegar that is sour and is extracted from various grains. Nevertheless, a halal food expert, Dr. Anton Apriyantono, said that not all vinegar is halal for Muslims.
