The Art of Wearing Hijab Part 4: Evening Wear. A Rectangle Body Type

Last but not least comes Rectangle/Ruler body shape or Banana. Since this is an equally proportioned body type, (shoulders, waist and hips are all almost the same width), then stylist like to see it as twin to the hourglass shape at top and bottom but with a need to emphasize the waist only.
So there is one thing when it comes to dressing H-shaped body: Pop-out that lost waist!
Trick the eyes to look everywhere else BUT the waist or simply create the illusion of a well defined waist.

H-shaped body should wear:

1- Tops that end at the mid-section of the hips
2- Detailing on the upper tops (pleats, ruffles, bow, yokes)
3- Peplum tops, dress or skirt
4- Empire waist tops or dresses
5- Form-fitted and single breasted jackets or coats
6- Belts low, without detailing and in low contrast
7- Pants of any style (straight, flare, boot legs or wide legs, etc.)
8- Skirts of any style (A-line, straight, pencil, maxi, bubble, etc.)
9- Accessories to draw attention upward (necklace, earrings, brooch and scarf)

H-shaped body should avoid:
1- Clothing that are neither too tight nor too buggy. Semi wear is the best bet
2- Tuck in tops if you have short waist
3- Detailing around the waist (pockets, patterns or horizontal band (jumper) around the waist)
4- Wrap tops or dresses it only makes the look buggier at the waist

As for party wear, rectangular shaped ladies should keep in mind that their only problem is that you lack curves. So always wear dresses that create body –shaping silhouette To create curves, wear peplum style prom dress or one that cinched at the waist and flares out at the bottom. Going for necklines that widen the shoulders is a great trick. And a prom dress with train will enhance the overall figure even more.

Suggested necklines: V-neck, bateau, strapless, sweetheart, off the shoulders, halter, scoop neck, one shoulder, and don’t forget your jewels.
Suggested silhouette: A-line, ball gown, mermaid, trumpet, princess seam, balloon, and peplum.
