Where is the Tomb of Hawwa (Eve)?

In the Qur’an, and also is mentioned in the Torah and the Bible, that Adam Alaihissalam and Hawwa did not follow the commands of Allah Subahanahu Wa Ta’ala not to eat the forbidden fruit. Adam Alaihissalam and Hawwa were tempted by devil and tasted the forbidden fruit, so that Allah SWT commanded them down to earth.

And We said, “O Adam, dwell you and your wife in Paradise and eat therefrom in [ease and] abundance from wherever you will. But do not approach this tree, lest you be among wrongdoers.” (QS. Al-Baqarah 35).

But Satan caused them to slip out of it and removed them from that [condition] in which they had been. And We said “Go down, [all of you], as enemies to one another, and you will have upon the earth a place of settlement and provision for a time.” (QS Al-Baqarah 36).

Then the question is, where Adam alaihissalam and Hawwa were on the earth at the first time? There are

many differences of opinions. In the Ad-Dur Al Manthur, from Ibn Abbas Radiyallahu Anhu, cited that Adam Alaihissalam , Hawwa, Satan and the snake fell at a place called Dajnah, which is between Makkah and Ta’if. Others mentioned that Adam Alaihissalam landed at Al-Safa (one of the hills in Makkah) while Hawwa landed at Al-Marwah (other hill in Makkah), where the two hills are placed at sa’i locations around the Grand Mosque, Makkah. Another source mentioned from Ibn Abbas Radiyallahu Anhu that Adam landed in one of the areas in India while Hawwa landed in Jeddah. Then Adam was looking for Hawwa down to Muzdalifah (the location is where Muslims who perform hajj seek for gravels to throw them in Mina), Makkah.

Jeddah means grandmother. That is the origin of why this place is called Jeddah. According to Arab tradition, it is believed that the mother of all human beings was buried in Jeddah. Hawwa burial location is not really publicized in general. I have visited the site believed to be the tomb of Hawwa. The place is located near the mosque of Qisash heading toward Balad around the old Jeddah. Do not think that the cemetery is a sacred or luxury place, as the cemetery is a public cemetery. No headstone, no names where exactly Hawwa was buried. This is to prevent people who make pilgrimages to do Shirk (Polytheism), ask for blessings, ask favor to the dead, which are banned by Islam. Her tomb itself is about 3 meters long and whitewashed. Originally, the tomb of Eve was about 120 meters long, 3 meters wide, 6 meters high, before being destroyed after centuries. For those who want to visit the place, usually are only allowed to see from the front door of the tomb, and should not enter to the grave, except if we intend to bury or ziarah. The door that is opened is already a fortune, because the guard prohibits anyone who wants to enter with no reasonable purpose.
